I don’t know whether this show or The Flash is worse about refusing to let the hero actually use his or her powers effectively. I know, I should just get over it. But it’s so irritating! ---

I was bothered about her talking about the “S” on her chest when she previously explained it wasn’t an “S”, it was the family crest. Her defeating the dude with the nuclear chest gadget was a bit lame. Supes should have figured it out earlier and defeated him. Seems very out of character for Clark and Kara to communicate via texting. Or that Clark would risk the communication being bugged and their identities exposed. On the plus side, the two sisters fighting over the last bit of food and Kara throwing a pillow was a nice light moment. On the minus side, I’d rather see Kara and Win as a couple than her and James. ---

Fair point, but at the same time intentionally hamstringing the superhero doesn’t make sense either. Reactron (which I agree is a stupid name) is throwing ranged attacks? Hmm, what ranged attacks does Supergirl have… she’s even used her eye lasers before, and if she was worried about sawing the bad guy in half (I suppose killing the villians is a line she doesn’t want to cross), she could be using her freeze breath. But yes, Kara should be one of the 5 fastest people in the galaxy, that she doesn’t use her super speed is a bit of an oversight. You could make a show out of it - where someone points out that her cousin is ultra-fast and strong, etc, why isn’t she, and then have a training montage where she practices her super speed, tests the limits of her super-strength, practices finesse with her heat vision, etc. ---

I’ve given up on it already. Can’t stand the sister and the whole secret ops thing not to mention all the contrived personal conflicts and smug Jimmy. And SG would have to be some sort of masochist to gladly take shit off of Calista Flockhart. Watched half of yesterday’s show, and wondered why she didn’t follow that guy when he was powered down and flew away, or at least burn his suit off with her eyes. My SOD done broke. ---

It is a little tough the SG is carried a large idiot ball in this last episode. But I will give it a little more time. As to the Calista Flockhart bit, I think Kara respects the achievements of Cat Grant and would like to work her way up in the news game. That I can buy. ---

Rescuing kittens on the east and west coasts within 5 minutes doesn’t mean much if she leaves a wake of shattered windows, deafened people, and flattened forests in between. To do the east-to-west coast travel in 5 minutes, she literally turns into a significant meteor fireball trailing a swath of Tunguska explosions behind her. Heck, even if she “blinks” a short distance of 50 feet to get behind an enemy in a small-scale fight, she can still create a bomb-sized shockwave just as a side-effect of moving. ---

All you said is true, but she doesn’t have to go mach 20 to close the distance with a bad guy, strip off his helmet, and punch him in the face faster than he can react. I’m pretty sure that going “merely” 500 mph would have won her fight with reactron on the highway in about 10 seconds. (Of course, that’s why she doesn’t use her superspeed. Not interesting for plot reasons). In the junkyard, who cares if she’s making mini-sonic booms? Maxwell Lord had already booked it, the junk doesn’t care if it gets dented, and it’s only helping her distract and disable Reactron. Plus, it’s a comic book show. I’m pretty sure Flash doesn’t destroy any buildings when he runs from one side of Central City to the other in 0.2 seconds. I was amused that Kara could recognize Reactron’s pre-accident face from a photograph, just because of the contrast between that and how oblivious everyone else is to Kara’s identity. ---

I’ve given up already. After episode 1, I was excited about this new show with potential, especially its magnificently adorable lead. Two weeks later, I’m done. I wish I cared enough to detail why. Dear TV writers, please let the characters decide the plot, rather than letting the plot force the characters into unrelenting stupidity for the sake of dumb-ass cliches.
