Superhero and Villain Beginnings

Gadarene - think there’s supposed to be a Wild Cards this summer.

The spy who didn’t halt the countdown of the bomb who created the * Hulk * was a scientist in the bunker. The Abomination was another guy . Wasn’t the Gargoyle around the same time as the Hulk started?

Ok. I just dug out a reprint of Hulk #1.

Igor was a “red spy”. He was tall, dark and handsome, and beaten up by the Hulk.

The other Russkie spy was “The Gargoyle” (not to be confused with The Grey Gargolyle" or “The Gargoyle” from the Defenders

This “The Gargolye” was an ugly, super-smart, little dwarfy guy who started crying when he realized that the Hulk was uglier than he was (joke!). No. Turns out that Banner knows a treatment using radiation that’ll make Gargy normal, but he won’t have a super-brain anymore. Banner uses it. Anyway he turned on his Godless Red Masters and only showed up again once or twice.

And then years later the Gargoyle’s son shows up (possibly also calling himself Gargoyle or maybe Goblin or something else with a G) which forces everyone who remembers the original Gargoyle to go “ew” at the realization that this means he probably had sex.

Oh, wait, weren’t the meteor fragments that imbued Captain Carrot and the Amazing Zoo Crew the result of a dasturdly plot by Starro the evil space starfish?

Otto:

The Gargoyle’s son was the Gremlin.

And when you think about it, the Gargoyle was clearly a man with a lot of influence to peddle. In the Soviet Union, this could definitely have compensated for his less-than-movie-star looks.

Not really. Superman used the meteor to somehow smash through the dimensional barrier that Starro sealed himself behind, but I don’t think it could reasonably be said that Starro really caused the Zoo Crew’s creation.
