The Silver Surfer v. Superman. It would be fun to see Superman lose in two panels or less.

Batman v. Captain America. In their first fight Batman did win by fan votes so as cheesy as the batarang may be it was at least a fan vote.

Rematch of Thor v. Superman without Mjolnir being denuded.

Martian Manhunter v. The Hulk. It would be fun to see the Hulk lose in two panels or less.

The Flash v. The Runner. or Makari If done right, it could be a lot of fun.

Doomsday versus the Hulk. Mindless mayhem at its best.

Deadpool v. The Question.

Green Lantern v. Quasar. Quasar should win as he’s a lot more durable but would be good to see a GL wise-crack about what a rip-off Quasar is.

Sersi v. Wonder Woman. Much better than Storm v. Wonder Woman.

Two issues actually. Roger Stern, I believe, penned the issues where Firelord stops by Earth for a pizza (it makes more sense in the book) and is attacked by mutant haters, provoking Firelord to burn down the joint. Spidey attacks, gets whooped, runs off, and Firelord chases him relentlessly. Finally Spidey figures Firelord is never going to stop coming so he ambushes the herald with his speed and agility, constantly pummeling him until Firelord falls unconcious and the Averngers show up to pull Spidey off. It was a pretty amazing story (no pun intended)

Alright now, CG, your Batman love has gotten a bit carried away if you honestly think there’s a difference in what we said.

Amazing in that they didn’t show the bloody stumps that would have been Spidey’s hands. Spidey might as well have been pummelling the Hulk. Even cutting loose, no way Spidey makes an impression on Firelord.

I will concede that it is likely I misspoke and it was two issues instead of one. Stern should have been demoted to guest fill-in writer for _Cathy_ after those issues.

Quasar’s title. Makkari participated in a race sponsored by the Runner, Elder of the Universe. Makkari (and the other competitors from Earth) were blown away by a mysterious last-minute arrival with amnesia, who was obviously intended to be Barry Allen.

Makkari later got into the follow-up championship race as a wild card, and beat the Runner, and ‘Buried Alien’, but only beat BA because he’d stopped to help out another runner in trouble.

I can look up the issue numbers later, or you may be able to Google them.

Thanks. I actually have the issues I had just forgotten about it. Great issue actually. Burried Alien, hehe.

The problem with Quasar was that Waid was always trying to create a legitimate scientific rationale for any feat which sometimes isn’t always possible in comics. He created hyperspace which has subsequently been ignored in Marvel. The Runner can now go multiples of light-speed. Still, it was a good issue.

Ok, I took a few minutes to think about it and I see where the confusion might (or is that could) lie. When I said Batman conceded that Cap “could” beat him, I meant it in the ‘could=has potential to’ form, not ‘could=always can’ form. In my head, you were just repeating what I’d said. Got it.

**Lochdale** , there was an issue of Quasar where Gamesmaster(?) gathered all the MU speedsters and made them race against each other. Toward the end of the race a flash of light brings in a final contestant who beats the rest. He is dazed and can only rememeber his name is something like Buried Alien or something.
But now I see CG has seen my confusion, but my consession should still be noted 🙂

This is most likely straining the topic past the point of breaking, but I am pretty sure all of these characters at least exist in comic book form:
[ul]
[li] **Batman vs. a Predator** : Batman is _not_ prepared. A Predator lands in Gotham and goes on a jolly rampage taking out cops and crooks alike (not that there’s much difference, in Gotham), and it’s up to Bats (and possibly some of the supervillians) to find out what’s going on.[/li][li] **Spiderman vs. an Alien colony** : Oscorp’s latest deep-space research craft comes back to Earth with a catatonic first officer and something highly classified in one of the (very large) cargo holds. Acid-blooded fun ensues.[/li][li] **Batman vs. a T-1000** : Batman is _not_ prepared. One of Batman’s more technological enemies decides that liquid metal is a really cool toy. _Hasta la vista, Batsy_.[/li][/ul]Note that Bats vs. a T-800 is a foregone conclusion: I think he could make scrap metal out of that kind of Terminator without so much as breaking a sweat, let alone having to break out any of his really cool toys. A T-1000, however, would have enough _WTF?!_ value to keep him unbalanced through the initial encounters, especially if Waynecorp hasn’t developed similar technology.

Why don’t we include characters which didn’t originate in a comic book, yet have arguably attained superhero status?

Characters whose primary source material are TV, the movies, and literature.

Luke Skywalker
Paul Atreides
Neo
John McClane
Steve Austin
Robocop
K.I.T.T.
Sherlock Holmes
James Bond

Been done. Twice. Bats won. Surprised? 😛

They have also done Superman and the JLA versus Predator and Supes versus Aliens.

Dark Horse and DC did a lot of things together for a while.

Between Clayface and Batman Beyond’s Inque, Batman vs. semi-solid shapshifter has a lot of precedent.

Now, as for how he’d win, well, T-1000 is vulnerable to liquid nitrogen. So Batman just has to figure out a way to _Freeze_ it. I wonder if he knows anyway capable of creating massive amounts of cold? Hmm…
