# Superman: Ultimate Flight. Went to Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday. We got there a little later than we had planned, after driving back and forth accross the Garbage State for a few hours, due to some faulty directions and half a dozen evil gas station attendants who conspired to send us in the wrong direction. Eventually we purchased a road map and figured out how to get there for real. (Rand and McNally are obviously not in league with the gas station attendants. Yet.) Anyhoo, our first priority was the new Superman ride, which none of us had been on before. For those unfamiliar with Superman: Ultimate Flight, it is a floorless inverted coaster, which are all the rage these days. Inverted coasters are the ones that are suspended from the track instead of rolling along rails like a train. Here’s a [picture](http://bm.digital-coaster.com/coasters.php?id=45&picture=10) of one so you know what I mean. Superman has one additional feature, though. In addition to being a floorless inverted coaster, right before the train is launched, everyone’s chair is rotated 90-degrees forward, so you are _facing straight down_. You get to fly just like Superman (if Superman flew while strapped into a steel harness in a kind of inverted sitting position.) It is simply the most amazing roller coaster I’ve ever been on, and I’ve been on a lot. My pal **The Tim** summed it up nicely just before we reached the summit of the chain-hill: “Holy shit. If there were a God, He would do this all day!” Then I started screaming like a little girl. Wow, that ride looks like the BatWing at Six Flags America in Maryland. That was one awesome ride!!! ---
