Superstitions

Well, many dyes were set with urine. I don’t know if they still are. Many items have sizing (a fabric finish) in them, so I always wash clothes before I wear them. I DEFINITELY wash clothes from a B&M store before wearing, because I used to work in such a store, and I remember some of our customers and their hygiene, or lack of it.

Well, I wear white underwear, and white socks. Boring, and unfashionable, I know. But there it is. I have never suffered any horrific consequences, or even noticable consequences from the incredibly cavalier way that wear them straight out of the plastic package.

I do wash shirts, and pants first, before wearing them, because they feel “scratchy” if you don’t. Scratchy I don’t like.

But, it is a true statement, that I have never washed the underwear or socks that I am wearing right now!! I probably won’t be wearing underwear or socks that have been washed until the January 19th! Eighteen straight days without washing my underwear! The horror!

No wonder I can’t get a date!

You think that’s bad? Many Koreans (and apparantly it’s spread to other Asian countries,) believe leaving a fan on in the room with you while asleep will kill you. It’s so widely believed, that apparantly even some doctors have attributed a cause of death to the fan. I know we have a doper or two living in S. Korea so maybe they can come and chime in on the subject.

Not for several decades, no. At least not any factory-made stuff.

Cool! Now I have a good reason for not getting around to the laundry yesterday! Can someone give me a good one for not doing it today, either?

Yay! Now I have an excuse for not doing laundry or taking out the trash on Monday!

Mr. Neville’s family did the black-eyed peas and greens on New Year’s Day. Mr. Neville doesn’t like black-eyed peas, though (I know, some Southerner he is…) so we just do greens without black-eyed peas. I had never heard of that tradition until I met him.

I’ve noticed that new underwear is often stiff before it is washed. I figure that is because of sizing. I don’t particularly want to wear stiff underwear, new or otherwise. I also have had clothing (not specifically underwear) bleed dye the first time it gets damp. So into the wash they go. It can bleed into my washer, not my skin.
