Suppoerting the troops

MamaHen: Your posting above is one lie after another, and added to that is your insulting of fine people. Which do you want shredded first: the lies or the insults you’ve made?

Are you sure about that, Monty? I think she made some valid points, although telling Robin she’s full of shit sure ain’t one of 'em.

Yep, EJ’sGirl; really. The valid points she merely approaches are tainted by over-generalization or oversimplification.

OK you are right. Only the Reservists and Guardsmen are expected to literally drop everything on very short notice and leave their jobs and families for who knows how long. The active duty soldiers knew all about it and secretly sneak home for dinner and the occasional booty call.

I really don’t want to hijack the OP anymore though so I’ve e-mailed Monty for my shredding. Should he prove me wrong I’ll drag my shredded ass back here and apologize, otherwise I still say that it’s crap to say that the “Reservists and Guardsmen have it harder than active duty servicemen”. Say they have a hard time too? Amen sister, but harder? All of them had to leave their families, I don’t think it’s harder on any one branch than it is the other.

I appreciate the e-mail, MamaHen, and have responded to it already.

Perhaps you could revisit your comment above about “Reservists ‘guarding’ the post.” Yes, the Reservists are real Soldiers and yes they’re really guarding the place.

To those of you who have been in the service and want to control what we are thinking and feeling:

I hope that you will consider that one of the greatest things about the country that you have fought for is the right to express differing opinions. And that includes when they differ from the President, from the troops in Iraq and from anyone a SDMB. If you don’t believe in that right for everyone then you fought for the wrong country.

seal_clubber, you know your son better than anyone here. I wish for him peace of mind, pride in his duty, good judgment, a sense-of-humor, sound sleep, fair winds, cool water and a joyful homecoming to his mom!

Write to your Senators and Representatives and let them know how you feel about the cut in pay for our soldiers and for the cuts in guaranteed veterans benefits.

Did Congress know about the cut in pay for service personel when they voted for the latest tax refund? Does anyone know?
