The problem is, is that no matter how much _I_ do that, I can’t get the party that runs on fearmongering to do the same. And unfortunately, fear is a powerful motivator.

That’s still pretty hard to _define_. You are saying that the SCOTUS’s made this decision for their own personal benefit?

Strong disagree with **Martin\_Hyde** and **GraysonCarlisle** about states simply disregarding the Supreme Court when they don’t like the decision. If I were President in the face of such a crisis, I would sic the National Guard on such rogue states.

Like Eisenhower did at Little Rock.

That wasn’t the question. Are you saying that they went through all the trouble of becoming a SCOTUS, including lying to congress, so that they could carry their guns outside the home?

If not, then they didn’t do it for their own benefit.

That doesn’t mean I agree with their decision, but if we are neutering the court, it seems like it should be over more than just disagreeing with their decision.

So, you think that, for the last 50 years, abortion should have been illegal in most of the states of the union?

Should the voting rights act have been enforced over the states that were habitually disenfranchising minority voters?

They did it to promote their own personal desires, which is exactly the same thing. Look at Thomas’s list posted above of what else he thinks needs to be abolished, like gay marriage and contraception.

This is the Trump court. One quarter were appointed by a treasonous president and confirmed by a treasonous senate. They were put on the court for the sole purpose of disregarding every bit of legal precedence to implement as law things that the vast majority of the citizens would never accept from their legislators.

I mean, you could then pass any executive order you wanted to. You could ban speech, guns, quarter troops in people’s homes, pull people off the street and detain them without trial indefinitely. And there would be no recourse.

Apples and oranges. Those courts were legitimate and acted on the basis of the law.

I could, I guess, until the people decided that I was illegitimate and removed me.

The point of Just say no is to force the court to either return to legitimacy or fade into irrelevancy.

Does it make any difference if they believe that it’s best for the country? I desire what’s best for the country, does following that desire make me corrupt?

I’ll agree that some of the justices are political hacks that were put on there for the purpose of changing the direction of the court. I don’t know that I agree that that delegitimizes the entire concept of a judicial system.

Who is also commander of the Supreme Court police.

But, you are, I suppose using the hypothetical that you are POTUS in this situation where you are telling judges “No.”

So, that’s great when you are president, but when your political rival wins, and arrests you without due process and subjects you to torture, and the courts tell him to let you go, you will be happy about him being able to simply say, “No.” Right?

While I agree with the decisions of those courts, and disagree with some of the more recent court’s decisions, whether or not you agree with the decisions shouldn’t determine whether the court is legitamate.

Yeah, that would be the outcome, and we no longer have a functional judicial system.

No, it makes no difference. I don’t know of any despot who thought Hey! Maybe somebody else’s ideas would work better.

Would you follow those desires when practically everybody else was telling you no?
