I went with a refurbished book because I really don’t like kick stands - got it for about $400 less than brand new. I take it off the keyboard/dock thingy just about every day but never for more than 90 minutes or so.
i7, 8Gb RAM, 256 Gb HD, and dedicated GPU, and you bet your ass I bought it directly from Microsoft.
Refurbs are a bit hit and miss. A fair amount of the refurbs are buyer’s remorse aka tried it for under 30 days and took it back for a full refund. Most of the other returns had easily fixable hardware issues. Any return that can’t be diagnosed and triaged quickly becomes spare parts. Any obvious hardware problems will kick in long before 1 year. So, you’re probably good, and MSFT store gives you a 1 year warranty on the refurb unit, correct?
Yep 1 Year. It’s been my experience that the folks at the MS brick and mortar stores often err on the side of providing too much customer service. I once brought in a laptop I had bought from MS that I had spilled a Coke into and they cleaned it up, fixed the keyboard, and gave it back to me the next day - no charge.
