It will be some kind of deep irony if the leopard that finally bites hard enough to alienate Trump’s supporters is the conspiracy theories around the Real ID requirement. Real ID is in a strange place in the MAGA mind. Most think it is a scary deep state tracking thing, and they hate it. To others it is some magical talisman that prevents the wrong people from voting. Considering that they’ve been delaying implementation for 20 years across four presidencies, I’m actually kinda surprised they’re finally sticking to their guns on finally enforcing it this time. ---

Actually, I calculated that 2% was what was needed to win the past election, add then the higher percentage of democracts that were diacouraged to vote then too and we are more likely to win next time. One has to also realize that it is very likely that there will be a significant number of Republicans that will not vote because, while they claim to be in favor of Trump, they will be discouraged at the sight of a president that acts like a king, with a useless Republican congress. Not a huge number, but just what is needed. ---

But this is Trump, the guy who thinks magnets don’t work when they get wet. This may be a case of the broken watch finding an acorn every once in a while. Did Trump look at an detailed engineering assessment for the deployment of this technology, or did he think something more along the lines of “I don’t understand EMALS. Magnets don’t work when wet. Aircraft carrier floats on wet. Bad.”? Anyway, I was making a comment/joke about 19th century technology and Trump taking the US back to it. ETA: @dtilque two posts up. Agreed. And both are spheroids. I’m now curious just what shape @Johnny_L.A’s acquaintance believes the Earth to be. And not just the name, but the general parameters. Big difference between the oblateness of Earth and that of a football. Or of a sea urchin shell. On further review, I suspect Johnny was saying that while his acquaintance believes the Earth to be the conventional shape it really is, she believes every _other_ wacky thing you care to name. Which poetic turn of phrase evidently misled @JKellyMap. Which led to you and I building off that misunderstanding. All in good fun. Cheers! @Johanna: That’s a good one.
