The current AF1 jet is the same type as the proposed Qatari gift. So no size upgrade there. The jet that trump has owned for ~20 years for his personal use when he’s not president is much smaller. And rather old and in need of replacement one way or the other. It’s pretty clear trump intends to die in office no matter how many years that takes. Suggesting he’ll have use of AF1 until his last ride. So I’m not quite buying that “feeling inadequate” part of the story. Now the idea he wants a gift jet (read $100M “bribe”) he can keep if somehow he isn’t President for life, and he’d like a jet to use now while president that isn’t USAF so it can have all the Deep State monitoring stuff not installed and lots of illegal stuff like Signal installed to enhance his criming? That part makes complete sense. ---

Accept the plane on behalf of the Air Force then keep having issues modifying it causing delays. “Sorry, Mr. President but the flaperon actuator rods did not meet spec. We’re having them redone. Next year for sure.” All the way up until he dies having never ridden in the thing. ---

Yes, the 200B is smaller, but not by much; the 747-8 is 18 feet longer, with a wingspan that’s 29 feet wider. The cabin is exactly the same width.
