I agree with you, and those people won’t be cheering when Trump tanks the economy. But they may lack the influence (read: spare cash lying around with which to curry Trump’s favor) to do anything about it. I still believe that if the economy starts being so obviously broken that FoxNews happy talk can’t convince people that everything is fine, then Trump will need a Big Event that will put the mass of Americans in the mood to start blaming scapegoats and also to start putting up with restrictions that no American would accept as of 27 November 2024. If we are in Trump’s heart’s desire: a nation in which no ill is ever spoken of him and no protests occur (after a few that meet reprisals), then it won’t matter that businesses can’t sell their products and that their factories are shut down. Because Trump can always decree that the factories open up again but this time to manufacture weapons and gallows and coffins. And the owners may not be thrilled but they don’t want to displease Dear Leader, so they will shut up about not being thrilled. Trump wants what Xi and Putin have: large economies that may well be doing MUCH less business than they would if they were located in democracies—but that are doing well enough to keep Xi and Putin in power. And no one dares say a word against Xi and Putin. In short, Trump would be fine with widespread privation in the US and not-much-of-a market for the goods and services being produced on 11/27/24. _ **Because he doesn’t really care if US business thrives or goes under.** _ He’s got his, Jack. ---

He’s not only an utter narcissist; he’s old and decrepit. The fact is that he’s not likely to live too many years longer, and it wouldn’t bother him in the slightest if five minutes after he died the entire planet caught fire and exploded. As far as he’s concerned once he dies the universe has fulfilled its sole purpose and no longer has any value or meaning. So even if he actually considers the future effects of his actions, he simply won’t _care._ Or it’ll outright tickle his ego to know that he wrecked the nation or the world as a last exercise in power tripping. ---

Especially when he’s known to have a fascination with nuclear weapons. I think the odds are that he’ll nuke _something,_ at some point. I don’t think he’ll want to die without having done that first. ---

His doctors know that he hired them for only two things. One, to tell him that he is the strongest, healthiest, smartest person they have ever seen in all of their years of practice. Two, to sign his prescriptions to aderal. They aren’t going to tell him he’s about to die. Also after surviving the assassination attempt i’m pretty sure he thinks he’s immortal, so he probably wouldn’t believe them. So even if they did tell him I doubt that he would beleive them. ---

I do not believe for a moment that executive order will not include a prohibition on even issuing birth certificates for certain children. The excuse he will use is that citizenship is a federal perogative and thus the states do not get to make that determination. Mind you, that’s not what the constitution says, but, hey, what does that rag have to do with anything lately? ---
