But …
@Measure_for_Measure has a larger point that there are only a few futures open to MAGA members as we eventually right the ship of state. they can die, they can self-deport, or they change their behaviors (and ideally, beliefs) to something more civilized.
If the only thing we’ll offer them is muzzled pariah status, we’re going to be doing an awful lot of killing. Which is not the right way to solve this crisis either.

Or choice D, they can pretend to have changed their behaviors and just bide their time, potentially to the next generation, while we pretend to believe them in order to avoid immediate conflict.

Yeah. I really didn’t want to mention that one. But I think it’s the truth.
Maybe I’m just getting old & cynical, but I’ve pretty well concluded that human nature precludes more than intermittent brief local flickers of moral social progress among a generally nasty and brutal life for most people most of the time. The USA’s flicker may be just about over for 100-150 years. Some pocket of progress elsewhere will have to pick up the torch.

Anyway, I can’t help but remember the words of a young man—I believe a leader of his high school’s young Republicans chapter—commenting on the SCOTUS decision that overturned affirmative action in university admissions.
This young man expressed his satisfaction with the decision, noting that he hoped now these colleges would stop focusing on race and start paying more attention to _ethnicity_. As if the decision to ban affirmative action didn’t also apply to ethnicity-based preference, and that he, a white _hispanic_ would be a benefactor.
Fucking dumbass.
I like to think a leopard has eaten his face by now…

1. She’s from England according to the article.
2. If _she_ voted for Trump, she’s got much bigger problems than a bad check (it’s illegal for a non-citizen to vote in federal elections, and a false claim to US citizenship also makes one permanently inadmissible these days)—I think you’re mistaken on this point.
3. Alas, I believe this is a repeat of a story that was already shared upthread.
