Conservatives are fine with lots of things that actually _are_ socialism, as long as it isn’t called that. “Socialism,” “communism,” and even “liberal” are just four letter words they throw around to describe people and things they don’t like. Those terms just sound more statesman like in a speech than actual four letter words. ---

It probably does end up being cheaper in the long run to address the underlying causes. But then some person might get some benefit some busybody doesn’t think they deserve, and where would we be as a society without moralizing scolds like that? ---
