But but but eggs were $1.50 a dozen in 2017! Surely getting whoever was president then back in, will magically get the prices back, and erase the effect of worldwide inflation and an ongoing epidemic? ---

I dunno - where I live now the cheapest eggs, _when you can find them,_ are $6/dozen. Prices on most of 'em range from $7-10/dozen depending on size and a few other details. One would hope that a restaurant chain specializing in breakfast would be able to get them at wholesale, but in addition to higher prices they might also be having trouble sourcing _enough_ eggs. The surcharge is a way to continue to offer them while reducing some of the demand? Just spit-ballin’ ---

According to the link I posted above, the commodity price for eggs is now up to $7.09/dozen Now, that’s today, so that price still has to work through the system. ---

From what I heard, containers aren’t able to be unloaded until the tariff is paid. I assume they already have a working system to administer this process, as I can’t imagine this administration being able to implement something like this without causing immediate havoc. ---
