I thought it would have been funny to wait and bring John in to hand off immunity after the voting had happened but before the votes were read. “Let’s see, that’s five votes for Mia, two for Eliza, and one for Scout, but Mia’s got immunity, so Eliza’s out of here.” Eh.

> [@](#):
>
> And the upshot was that she (Mia) would work if absolutely necessary, but given the choice, would let Twila and others do the work.

A strategy that worked out fine for Jenna Morasca, by the way.

The big problem Twila’s facing is that everybody who’s ever done well in the game has had to get rid of whatever stick they’ve got up their butt. She hasn’t done this yet. She’s typecast herself as “cranky objectionable worker,” and they don’t tend to make it very far in the game–once the shelter’s built post-merge, they’re history. Remember the construction-team leader in Amazon? Same deal.

> Interesting observation by Probst: the guys said they were all voting to ensure a strong tribe, and they’ve voted off two of their most powerful members. The girls said they were voting to promote social harmony, and Eliza’s still in the game (John: “and she just would… not… shut… UP!!!”; we were all laughing our asses off at that point). Not all oars are fully in the water at this point in time.

With this group of guys I really think “strong” is relative. The two young guys didn’t seem any stronger than the guys that stuck around, but personally I think Travis is an idiot and his talk of personal threats against him is way too early.

And Eliza may be dim, but she’s purdy…

and that will keep her in the game for a long time if she makes it to a merge.

I loved the look on Eliza’s face  as the final ballot was read. Her eyes got even bigger, if that’s possible. She was so shocked that one of the “younguns” had flipped.

Hmm, let’s see, when was the last time that happened… oh yeah–LAST WEEK when you voted Dolly out, Eliza! Now it’s coming back to bite you in the ass. In your lovely, little, firm, bikini-clad ass…

What was I saying?

Or, she could turn out to be like Rudy, especially if the trend towards getting rid of the younger players continues. Rudy didn’t take shit from anybody\* and he worked his butt off – not entirely unlike Twila. In fact, Rudy even all but said he hated almost everyone he was stranded on the island with. And if not for that silly slip-up in the final I.C., Rudy would have won the million in Borneo.
\*\* = Except for Richard. For some reason, Rudy put up with a lot of crap from Richard. But “not in a homosexual way.”\*

Actually, I thought she did that to overemphasize to the group “IT WASN’T ME THIS TIME!” since they already showed mistrust earlier in the episode.

Sounds like a very worthwhile organization, and they’ve spent a good deal of time on set up and adminstrative organizing. They have a website that I haven’t looked up yet, but it sounds like they’ve been getting swamped with e-mails, donations and offers of volunteer hours.
>
> Also, the local independant newspaper has him on the cover this week in an American flag tie-dye shirt and Uncle Sam hat with the caption “I WANT YOU to register to vote”. [www.nuvo.net](http://www.nuvo.net) is the paper’s url.

He is way too cool. Had a chance to meet him last month at a local charity event here. What a sweet man! He was treated like a rock star! The charity was Ethan Zahn’s Grassroots Soccer. Got pictures with Rupert, Ethan, Jenna L., Tina, and several more All Stars.

> He gave immunity because he had immunity. Thus, he couldn’t have been on any ballots. Maybe he was the other John.

I wasn’t very clear on my original post, was I? I think we have it all straight now. There were two Johns. John K and John P. John K won immunity and gave it to Ami. John P. got booted. When people wrote his name down, some wrote “J.P.” or “John P.” to differentiate between the two Johns.

Honestly, I didn’t know there were two Johns until Jeff said “John wins immunity!” The “twist” in having two people go home in one night was okay for drama, but it also meant that the editors had to cut quite a bit out. I really think part of the reason we don’t feel a connection with this group yet is because they haven’t allowed sufficient time to get to know anybody. Well, except for Mia. I’ve seen enough of Mia.

Yeah, that was funny when the women’s tribe walked out and the guys had no clue who had gotten voted out. “Dolly? Which one was she?” “The blond.” “Oh.”

John has a _huge_ advantage over all the other guys–he got to spend time with the ladies and figure out some basic strategies. The other guys don’t even know the ladies’ _names…_

Yes. But so’s her mouth. The girl won’t. shut. UP! If I were on that tribe I’d have taken one of my shirts apart for the thread to sew her mouth shut by this point.

Seriously.

I really hope the next reward is a bottle of valium. The women could use the relief from Eliza’s constant chatter. Is she trying to irritate her way to the million?

The TWOP recapper talked about Mia practicing her “bitch face.” Seemed pretty on-target to me. Now that she’s gone, I really don’t have any person whom I’m rooting against or for, but that’s largely due to the forced editing at this early phase which gives bootees maximum screen time. I actually enjoyed disliking Mia and her roll-eyes-bitch-face and I’m a little sad she’s gone. My dislike for her was more fun than the indifference I feel toward the rest of the women and men.

I will say, however, that I couldn’t tell Brady (is that the FBI guy’s name?) and JP apart no matter how I tried. When they were in the same shot, I swear I was looking at twins. I’m thankful that one of them is gone, whatever the reason, so that I can pigeonhole the remaining tribe members on looks. Tall, dark, really young guy=John…tall, dark, slightly older guy=Brady. Right?

The first few weeks are so confusing!

I’ll have to cut you some slack, 'cause you’re from the frozen north, but since I grew up in Florida with orange trees in my backyard, I can tell you: oranges don’t have to be “orange” to be edible. Also, the ones you see in your grocery store are highly domesticated, bred more for appearance and shelf-life (to make the long truck journey without molding first) than for flavor. “Wild” oranges tend **not** to turn that bright color when ripe.

Back on topic, Rory may not be stupid, but isolating yourself and not showing a “teamwork” attitude is very poor gamesmanship in this game. I’ll be surprised if he lasts.

_Most_ oranges don’t turn that bright color when ripe. There’s an awful lot of dye in the skins of most of the oranges in the supermarket…

 I don’t think she needs to practice it anymore. Seems to me like she has it down pat.
I’m glad she’s gone.

And yes, the first few weeks are confusing. There was one girl (Lisa?) that I would have sworn was just dropped on the island for the TC. I didn’t think I’d seen her at all before.
