There were two other people on the island to go start a fire; it wasn’t an either-or thing. Oh, and I have a brown belt in Shotokan, the same style as Bruce. His kata was not so good. All shoulders and no core muscles. Sigh. For him to get out-wrestled was just embarrassing. ---

Right now he’s sitting out the alliance game but he’s not immediately threatened. He’s in a good position to make it to the merge as a free agent and then be able to negotiate his position. ---

Bobby is definitely smart. You are correct that he had that plan all along. That’s a quick wit. The problem for Bobby is that if he makes the merge, he is the obvious target if his tribe doesn’t have the numbers. ---

It should be a simple matter to find some bamboo or a straight stick or something and put three barbed prongs on it. One thing that _might_ work would be to make a bow. I’m sure that they could find a stick that’s sufficiently springy, and weave a string out of something. It would probably not work underwater, but it might work if they kept the bow out of the water. Or: Perhaps an improvised sling could be made using elastic from a bra or underwear? There was an episode of _Mythbusters_ where they actually got some decent thrust from underwear elastic. (Power faded quickly, but it worked.) ---

Put me in the group that loved the immunity challenge. BUT, it only works with the right people, i.e. not too thuggish. Guys like Boston Rob would have been looking for high fives after crackback blocks and eye-gouging under the pile. May not have looked like it, but I thought Bobby showed a lot of restraint in the heat of the moment by not laying out Ruth Marie and turning her into a crumpled pile of twisted flesh – with convulsions and all. Very sad to see Misty go. I was really starting to like the way she and Sally played off each other. ---

What was the point of cracking up the snail shells and adding them to the snail soup? They weren’t really eating them, were they? Yuck. I’d eat the snails, but not the shells. ---

I’m shocked at Survivor, the way I was shocked with “Fear Factor” when they had people sticking needles into themselves. The no-holds-barred immunity challenge was over the top. What is next, knife fighting for the idle amusement of Mark Burnett? I like boxing and UFC-type martial arts, but I don’t think the people that signed up on for Survivor envisioned that they would be pressured to fight that way. It was wrong to trick them this way. I don’t think it is fitting for people who are mismatched in ability to have to fight each other. Even if some male/female pair might be somehow comparable, I think mixed-sex fighting is too close to assault to be sporting. Even if they would have had only the men fight, there was no guarantee that the participants would play by any rules. There were no rules that I saw. There was no referee, there was no immediate medical attention. The risk of injury was high. I realize the contestants have signed a waiver where they recognize that they will do physical challenges and may get injured, but falling of a rope ladder is different than getting your eyes gouged fighting for a bag. I would have refused to do it. I would have tried to start a rebellion in my tribe not to participate. With enough people refusing, I think they could have embarrassed the producers into changing the immunity challenge. If that did not work, I would have escalated. It would have brought the challenge to a halt long enough for re-thinking. Is no one else upset about this?
