Man, Corrine is a bitch of epic proportions. You know her final words are going to be filled with venom for every “stupid moron” remaining in the game when she goes down. And judging by this episode, it will be very soon.

Kenny and Sugar are both secretly running the game and I think there’s a bit of mutual respect there. I also think that neither one wants to target the other because it’s good to keep someone around that you can point to and say “They’re the real mastermind! Vote them out!”

Random Other Thought… The fake idol MUST come into play! It’s too real looking not to.

Don’t forget the beginning of his speech to Crystal about “your boy GC”.

If I were as good at making false idols as Bob, I’d setup an assembly line and crank out a half dozen. Stick one back on the nail, stick the rest in your bag. When he gets back to camp, take Sugar aside, tell her they put a second idol out and offer her the idol. If he needs Susie or Matt’s vote, do the same. Have enough idols ready so you can’t turn over a rock at camp without finding an idol. Have enough so Sugar doesn’t even know if she has a legit idol.

Then, sit back and wait for the moment someone tries to play one when you can announce “Shouldn’t have put your faith in false idols, beeyotch!”

The immunity challenge reminded me of my longtime question regarding the players of this game: Fire making is always a big part of the game. In the first few days, and many seasons have had fire making challenges. It really isn’t that difficult. It just takes practice. I learned how as an eleven year old in the Scouts. It would be the first skill I would brush up on if I was going to be a player in this game.

And certainly they had a little while between the challenge notification and the challenge to practice a bit more, right? These fire-starting challenges are always embarrassments, none more so than the epic showdown in which neither competitor could get a fire started so they were both given matches – and at least one of them failed to start the fire even _with_ the matches (a little help here - does anyone remember the competitors involved?).

Wouldn’t be great if we heard this conversation next week:

Bob: Pssst, Corinne, I overheard the Fang of 4 is planning to vote you out
Corinne: I’ll cut off their knees and then I will kill them.
Bob: I got something better, I found the Hidden Immunity Idol.
Corinne: Please give it to me, and I’ll play in tonight’s tribal council, and we can backdoor Crystal.
Bob: OK

Well, Susie’s a cosmetologist, which I’d think wouldn’t involve fire making. And Sugar’s a model from Brooklyn. And they both made fire in the IC. So I’d guess they are both either really lucky, or practiced with flint fire making beforehand. Really, I’m impressed with both of them, they did really well while every other player floundered, and this just has to be a result of some preparation before the show (or just maybe during show, on the days preceding that challenge; either way, they rule).

Fuck, in the _hours_ before the challenge – the announcement practically said is so many words, “You will have to start a fire from scratch this afternoon.” Susie and Sugar are the only two who deserve to win, given the profound stupidity demonstrated by everyone else who _didn’t_ practice.

To be fair, Matty did “practice”, by trying to make a fire during the episode, prior to the challenge. He just sucked at it.

I don’t really think it’s fair to label Randy as racist when Crystal & GC _really were/are_ two of the most annoying, self-involved and lazy people in this season. Not liking them doesn’t have to be about racial issues, they just seem like assholes.

I still don’t understand why using somebody’s initials elicited the reaction from both you and Probst. It seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

As for nicknames, I would wager that nicknames have been used on TC votes before. I’d also wager that initials have been used before. Hell, it’s a miracle if anyone ever spells a name correctly anyway.

Crytsal had never been called CC by anyone before and did not request to be called that. This TC also featured Charlie Herschel and Corinne Kaplan (which, unless she spelled it, could also easily be CC). Probst was perfectly in the right to ask for clarification and be pissed (because they’ve had serious problems with unknown nicknames before, so I’d imagine it’s in the rules now).

Yes, nicknames have been used before – I remember Tina from season three was called “T-Bird” in votes – but she was also called “T-Bird” by other Survivors \*and it was clear who was meant. \* A random set of initials doesn’t necessarily make it clear who the person is voting for, as **Justin Bailey** ’s examples show.

And spelling – that’s a false issue. Is there going to be any actual confusion if you spell it “Charlie” or “Charley” if there’s only one person to whom that would refer?

Quick question re: Exile Island.

I thought that in previous Survivor seasons, if someone found the hidden immunity idol while on Exile Island, that idol was replaced. Or is my memory playing tricks on me?

Only after it got used at Tribal Council. Bob was planning on bluffing that he’d found the idol; either than Sugar had never fond it, or that she must have used it already. Not a bad plan, given what he had to work with. The merge rendered it unnecessary last week, but it may come up again.

Sugar is always sitting pretty. She never gets voted for and she has the idol. They overlook her every week. She is not making enemies.

Is there a story here? Did this cause confusion in some earlier season? What were the circumstances?
