# Survivor: Pearl Islands starts this Thursday! I don’t have any spoilers, but I suppose there may be spoilers in subsequent posts, so for those of you who get itchy about that sort of thing, be forewarned. 😃 Anyway, all I’ve seen so far are the Smoking Gun articles about some minor indiscretions of a few contestants (a few of which Survivor actually included in their bios in an attempt to try to pre-empt the SG lowdown). The only ad I’ve seen so far has the cast jumping off of a boat in fairly formal-looking clothes, with a voiceover about how this batch of people is being dumped off with only the clothes on their backs…no pack with extra clothes, no luxury item, no box full of supplies. Has anyone heard anything else about what takes place on the early episodes? Is anyone besides me excited?! ---

From the ads I’ve seen, the contestants were surprised to be suddenly dumped into the game with no provisions. One guy was wearing a _tie_. I don’t know what they thought they were doing on the boat… ---

I’m guessing they thought it was a preliminary look at where they were going, or something like that. They do have packs with them, so maybe Probst told them to pack for the game, but then told them, “Sorry, you’re going to walk the plank and be dumped in what you’re wearing.” It’s interesting that some of them look like they’re dressed for the office or whatever. Not even in shorts or tennis shoes. In the last show of the previous Survivor, when they told us where this next one would be, he did say it would be a memorable stranding. I was quite intrigued. Just a request, **please** post any actual spoilers in spoiler boxes. I’d like to stay spoiler-free. I don’t care about arrest records or speculation or stuff like that, but if you know for sure that **this person** is the first one kicked off, please box it. Thanks. ---

Probst was on Howard Stern last week. He said the contestants were told they were going to do a press conference, so they were to dress according to how they’d like to be perceived. After the “conference”, they wer booted off the boat and sent to their prospective islands. There were no supplies given. just money to spend in the local village for supplies. He said some of the people spent wisely and other were pretty stupid. He also said there would be a HUGE lie told this season that will blow everybody away. Sounds like it’ll be a good season! ---

Well, I’m rather interested in seeing this one, just because I’ve been to las Perlas quite a few times. I’ve always thought of them as a nice place to go for a vacation, not for a test of survival skills. Anyone know the name of the particular island they were on? ---

Aha, I found some info. They actually seemed to have filmed on 14 of the islands, including Mogo Mogo, Saboga, Casaya, Ampón, and Bartolomé. ---

Anybody know a good website that does picks/betting competitions, etc.? My family all like to compete against each other, predicting who’s going to get the boot, etc., but since Yahoo’s stopped doing their picks we’ve been a bit lost. Last season I ended up making up my own spreadsheet and keeping score for the group. A pain in the rear I’d like to avoid this season if possible. ---

Maybe one of the women is really a man in drag. Imagine the reaction of his tribe when that’s discovered! Okay, I don’t really have anything to add; I’m just poking fun at the only show that I actually make a point to watch. Mrs. Flesh watched the VH1 Inside Survivor special last night and told me that one of the contestants (probably the one with the tie) jumped in wearing an Armani suit. Guess we’ll see if those expensive duds are really worth the price. ---

It’ll take a few days, but there will be a recap that is nearly minute-by-minute and delightfully snarky! The forums are good, but if you don’t like spoilers, you may want to avoid them, as they pop up pretty frequently. ---

Didn’t her mother ever tell her to always wear clean underwear in case she was thrown overboard and castaway on a tropical island? If the show started this way, how did they do the luxury items? Or didi they skip that this year? I’ve read Jeff Probst saying that this series will have some player telling the biggest lie ever on the show. As always, the events on the show are probably overhypped, but I’d guess one of two things; either a married contestant claims to be single to shack up with another player or one of the player makes up a story about something like a dying parent or sick child in a bid for sympathy votes. ---
