The cast was announced yesterday, and today they [revealed](http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/08/21/survivor-philippines-michael-skupin-jonathan-penner-russell-swan/) the three returning players. Looks like and interesting mix, and they _didn’t_ bring back the person that would have me boycotting the season. Thoughts before the show debuts Sept. 19th? ---

Thank God. If that racist ass was brought back there is no way I’d watch. He wasn’t a “fun” villain, like some, he was just a truly horrible person. Is this the first time they’ve had three tribes? ---

3 tribes with 3 returning medical evacuees. Plus 2 ‘celebrities’. Facts of Life Actress Lisa Welchel (Blair) Former NL MLB MVP Jeff Kent Plus a lot of hot bodies. I actually haven’t taken notice, but this season has 1-20yo, 1-22yo and 1 24yo, then it starts getting mixed up. It seems like it’s trending older this season, yes? I wonder if that will have any affect on the back-stabbing and such. ---

I didn’t watch “One World” (even though I’ve been clamoring for them to put both tribes on the same beach since the third season or so), but the idea of Jeff Kent being on Survivor might be too good to pass up. ---

Good to see that the rumors as to the returning 3 (not Colton, thank god) and Jeff Kent were true. It’ll definitely be interesting to see the tribe dynamics, since the teams are smaller (due to having 3 instead of 2) and all the returnees are on the old side. Age seems to be one of the biggest dividers early on Survivor. Penner (50) gets put with 22, 28, 24, 32 and 44 (Jeff Kent) year olds. This team could be pretty athletic and not have an age problem. Skupin (50) gets 24, 27, 32, 49 and 53 year olds. This is the old fogey tribe. Swan (45) has 20, 25, 28, 28, and 41 year olds. This is the youngest tribe. ---

Will be interesting to see if Kent will play incognito or openly admit his millionaire status. And Blair? Hopefully she’ll be interesting. ---

I’d have preferred not seeing Blair and preserved my adolescent memories of her as a deliciously voluptuous teenager. Maybe they’ll have a hot sauce challenge for her though. ---

I really hate retreads, but this is fairly innocuous. Not a big fan of mixing in “celebs”, but I guess we’ll have to live with it. Are they doing exile island? I hope not… ---

I had forgotten that Jeff Kent has already done reality competition TV, namely ABC’s [The Superstars](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Superstars_%282009_edition%29), which was more notable for Terrell Owens participation. He finished 5th out of 9 teams paired with Ali Landry. For a guy who had a prickly reputation in the big leagues, surprised he’s such a pop culture guy. Nitpick: Penner has had two shots before (Cook Islands, Fans vs Favorites)–it was on the second where he had to be pulled from the game. Cook Islands is the first season to have three three-time players (Parvati, Ozzy, Penner) ---
