I don’t recall seeing anyone comment on this, so forgive me if I’m repeating it.

At the tribal council, we see the Armani guy in his jacket. Osten is wearing some strange kind of vest himself, with dangling pockets. After looking it at a bit, I realized that it must be the lining of the Armani jacket.

Wonder if he’ll start a new fashion trend.

With all due respect, I completely disagree. Jeff Probst may be talking about it and it may be posted elsewhere, etc., however, (a) **it was not part of the episode** , which is what this thread is supposed to be discussing, and (b) as many of us have said over and over in every one of the threads of this sort, some of us **purposefully avoid watching interviews and reading websites that may contain spoilers not related to the episodes**. I happen to have managed to avoid having heard any of this extraneous information until I stumbled upon people revealing it here in this thread. I don’t read _The Smoking Gun_ or _Television Without Pity_ or any other website that might contain spoiler information that could dampen my enjoyment of each episode.

Therefore, I’d like to respectfully request that if it isn’t about **the particular episode** that it either go in a separate spoiler thread or be placed inside a spoiler box. Spoiler box coding is pretty simple, so it doesn’t seem like too much to ask. If in doubt, please err on the side of courtesy.

Thanks.

That was rather my point. He IS aware of spoiler tags, and he KNOWS how to use them. And in this case, no spoiler tag was necessary. Conceivably, someone could argue that every post in here that divulges anything about the show should be in a spoiler tag. To me, spoiler tags are for information, the knowledge of which, might spoil the outcome of the show.

Maybe it was ‘Talk Like A Pirate Day’ in that part of the world when they filmed it?? 😉

I don’ think he’ll last. There’ll be a challenge where speed or endurance come into play and he’ll cost them the game. They’ll vote him out for it. I hope he lasts though, he is more entertaining and likeable than the rest of those yuppie-like guys.

DavidB - I have it on tape, actually. I’m going to re-watch it, and will re-post with my thoughts, reconsidering them in view of a second viewing.

BTW, I completely agree with Shayna. I also do not go to websites/read news articles/etc. which will give “inside” information about post-filming intrigues. I did not appreciate seeing that tidbit, I have not followed the gambling thing, have not read any interviews with Probst, don’t even know who Burnett is, etc.

So I would concur that if your information reveals something we couldn’t discover by watching the latest episode and that ALONE, put it in a spoiler box. Otherwise, I simply won’t participate in this thread’s discussion, cuz it will potentially spoil the show for me.

The Toronto Sun, to be specific. That’s why I didn’t really think anything of it – it was in a _newspaper_. Also, the topic had already been brought up, I was just responding to it.

I understand that, and had I thought it was a real spoiler (ie, gave away information relating to who would be booted when), I never would have said it. But, like I said, it wasn’t on a spoiler board or anything like that, it was in the newspaper.

That said, since it seems other people have a different definition of “spoiler,” I’ll try to make sure in the future that I don’t reveal any of what I read in the newspapers.

Good. Thanks.

Nothing was revealed about the gambling thing in this thread, other than the fact that a betting website stopped bets on _Survivor_, which provides exactly zero information.

Oy. I won’t even comment on that last part.

I don’t mind knowing that there’s a gambling scandal again, I just don’t want to know who’s involved. Last year someone posted quite early that it involved Matthew and Jenna, so we knew who the final two were. That’s all I don’t want to know. And I don’t want to know who’s voted off beforehand.

I was agreeing with you, **Libertarian.** I do read Television Without Pity, but try to stick to threads where spoilers aren’t allowed, and prefer to be surprised. I was just suggesting that of all people, a mod should know when and how to use spoiler tags. Which is what you said.

Another question, please.

If you are injured enough to have to leave the island, are you invited back? I seem to remember a news item about a survivor who was burned and airlifted to a hospital. Did he get to come back? If not, did the vote someone off anyway?

**Biggirl** , you’re correct…I believe it was in the Australian outback series that Michael was burned very badly while tending the fire. They airlifted him out and he did not return. IIRC, for that week’s episode, no one was voted out, so that the pace of the game wasn’t affected. I don’t think that there would have been a practical way for him to have returned to the game even if he’d turned out not to have been seriously injured.

There has been talk of an all-star Survivor, with teams made up of previous contestants. A lot of people think that Michael should be on that series, since he didn’t get a fair shake in his first round and it looked like things were shaping up for him to have gone far in the game…maybe even to have won, had he not had to leave. I guess we’ll see. 🙂

Michael Skupin from Survivor Outback was the contestant who burned himself so terribly he had to be airlifted from the camp. If I recall correctly, no one was voted off that week.

From the CBS website:

"In the wake of Michael’s accident, Ogakor received treemail notifying them that an accident at Kucha had occurred and that one of the Kucha tribemates had been evacuated. As a result, the two tribes will merge with five members each.

The news was bittersweet to Ogakor: they had escaped Tribal Council but were saddened to hear about the accident, although they knew none of the details, including who had been hurt. Unexpectedly, the field had been leveled for the upcoming merge"

Mike didn’t return to Survivor that season (his injuries were too extensive).

David B:

I re-watched the show. My understanding was partly incorrect, and you summarized it accurately. Nicole did approach Lill in a stupid way, and so she did kind of do herself in. It’s not that she lied or “backstabbed” (whatever that means), it’s that, as she later recognized, she approached a weak player (Lill) with whom to form an alliance (never a good strategy since, as Lill did, they will probably go to the leadership and “out” the troublemaker as a way of gaining status within the group) and got messed up trying to get the story down between the truths and “half-truths”.

Note that Tijuana says in the interview after that last blowout, “I find all this out, that Nicole is trying to get me out. For what? For What?”

Well, Tijuana, Nicole might not have told you this because it would have been revealing more than she wanted to at the time, but she likes the guys and outside of them, there is you, her, Lill and Darrah. Darrah and her hit it off, it appears, and Lill is not as bossy and loud as you. I don’t blame Nicole for trying to strategize, but I do blame Lill for narc-ing to the authorities on another player.

But ultimately, I suppose, if it gets Lill closer to the finals, you really CAN’T blame her. I still don’t like it, though, since I rather liked Nicole.

I just watched it last night- a big thanks to the bright CBS exec who decided to re-run it for us hurricane folks. Never thought I would thank a network for reruns, but there you are. . .

Rupert’s a riot, but you know its only a matter of time until he snaps- he just has that look- you know, the “disgruntled former employee” look.

Too soon to tell about many others- next week will clarify things a great deal.

I can answer this one. We’ve already seen basically what you’re suggesting- it was called Survivor: Africa. You may remember that there was very little by way of shelter/shade during that season… as a result, the entire run was boring as hell because (as the contestants spoke extensively about later) they had absolutely zero energy to do anything because of the heat and sun. Toward the end they could barely string entire sentences together.

Sorry… not a good idea.

Just before we moved to New Orleans, the local newspaper TV magazine had an April Fool’s article that the next Survivor was going to be Swamp Survivor, out on a bayou somewhere. I don’t remember a lot of it, but they did suggest as challenges (1) pothole dodging in New Orleans or (2) video poker tournaments. And for the endurance contest, they only had two words: “Accordion music.”

Sounds like a good one to me. 😃
