I assumed it was a TWOP reference, and understood who it was from context – but I don’t read over there and prefer not to have to sort out their nicknames. (I find TWOP _way_ too pleased with itself to be enjoyable.) ---

Just watched it. Snap, first impressions about some of the Survivors from the Snap, first impressions episode: **Carolina -** Thank Christ she’s gone. That voice, those mannerisms. Three days is 2.9 days too many to spend with a person like that. Also, anyone that wears a dress with a plunging neckline to a non-surprise dropoff point deserves to go home early. You are too stupid for words. **Tyson (AKA crazy Mormon) -** Will likely go far. **Coach -** Will go far, but will be blindsided spectacularly and then bitch about it in his Final Words. **Sandy/Sierra -** Both will stick around a long time. **Jerry (AKA the soldier) -** Intrigues me. Could go either way. Possible winner. **Stephen (AKA the awkward geek) -** Doomed **Sydney (pretty blonde pop tart) -** Doomed No one else really made an impression. ---

I think Sandy didn’t have a clue what pace meant, and she clearly didn’t know what a palm tree was. And I don’t understand how she missed that stick the first afternoon she was there. I’m disappointed Carolina was gone. She seemed to be the only one interested in getting the shelter done. Though she did seem pretty useless in the challenge. I don’t like Coach. I’m not surprised Probst likes him after hearing his “Survival of the Strong” strategy. If all he’s counting on his his strength, he’ll leave somewhere around the merge. ---

The clue was very specific about “your largest beach”… that stick was way to conspicuous for her to have been anywhere near it and not seen it. ---

Anyway, chalk up another two (myself and my SO) in the column for believing that, at first at least, Sandy had no real clue what “pace” even meant. And that, somehow, she missed seeing the big giant lone palm tree. But I also have to agree with **Jas09** that she didn’t miss the big stick the first time, she just didn’t know what “largest” meant, and was at the wrong beach. They looked different. ---

Had I been Sandy and the rest of the gang asked what I’d been doing while waiting for them, I would have said, “I was looking for something.” 1. It gives her a valid excuse for not working; 2. It makes them think she MIGHT have found a HII (even if she didn’t) and would therefore hopefully pick a Plan B to vote off. She’s very, very lucky that she didn’t need it. Of course, me and my DH wonder why Jeff didn’t ask if anyone wanted to play a HII before the vote… ---

I believe in every previous season where there’s been an HII, everyone knew one existed before Probst started asking that question during TC. There was a nicely framed shot of Sandy standing on the beach, repeating to herself the clue about walking towards the palm tree, and you could see the lone palm tree in the background behind her. Was I the only one who said to the TV,“Look, there behind you, the Big W!” (lame reference to the crossed palm trees fron Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World that everybody walked past oblivious) ---

Or maybe the criteria when the teams were formed on the truck was whatever color they happened to be wearing? This episode did not elaborate other than stating the teams have already been chosen. ---
