Okay, bear with me here. I know there have to be some Survivor fans here on the Straight Dope, so I was wondering if people would be interested in playing in a Straight Dope version of Survivor. If there’s enough interest, I’d be glad to put the system together and host it. If not, hey I’ve had plenty of bad ideas before anyway. 🙂 The way I thought it would work (for those of you that are familiar with the concept of Survivor) is that the strategy/alliances/voting would all be handled via PM here on the Dope. I might set up an off-board forum for the “tribal” forums as well for discussion. The challenges/daily life would be done in an RPG/D&D-like manner. Before the game begins, you’d be given a set of points and skills and you’d decide if you’d rather be better at swimming/running/cooking/etc. That sort of thing. You’d also have energy points, and you’d decide if you want to use around camp to make your daily life better, or save them for challenges…that sort of thing. Challenge winners would be determined by a formula using the starting statistics + how much energy you have/how healthy you are. So basically it’s going to be an RPG + Survivor strategy in the processes of voting. I haven’t come up with a complete system yet, as I don’t know if this idea is going to have any support or not. If there’s a decent enough response I’ll go ahead and come up with a foolproof plan. So…anybody interested? ---

I don’t know that I would participate, but I have played in online Survivor games before, and I’m thinking this link would probably be a good resource for you: [http://survivorokinawa.proboards12.com](http://survivorokinawa.proboards12.com) If you poke around a bit you’ll be able to find a pretty good system for the daily life part of the game (devised by future Survivor: Guatemala contestant Rafe, oddly enough). ---

I’m friends with a few of the people who played in it, in fact I was almost casted in it way back in the day. 😛 That’s basically where the idea for a system like this came from. Six people interested so far…a little more and I might be able to work something out. 😃 ---

Well that’s 9 people, enough for one whole tribe! Yaaaaaay. I guess I’ll poke around with a system and put something interesting together. Maybe by the time I get a workable system enough people will be interested for a full regular game of 8 on 8. If I can’t at least enough for two tribes of 6, we can try a game that just starts from the merge and see how that goes.
