I was sad to be 34 and single. Then I rolled over and saw my 24 year old girlfriend and realized that things were generally OK. Or am I still some kind of loser? ---

I recall my husband and I (who were married on December 31 ten years ago) calculating our taxes married versus single for that year - and deciding we really got married January 1. There was a huge difference - two single persons paid much less than one married couple. ---

Religious?😕 I thought marriage was about saying to a person, “I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I mean it so much that I want to show off to friends and family!” It’s the idea that marriage is about religion and legality that has caused such an uproar in the United States about gay marriage. If it were about love, more people might be willing to say, “Well then, Go for it! Adam? Steve? Congratulations!” ---
