In addition to **romance/ lonely hearts scams** , **Ebay scams** , involving them overpaying you with a (fake) check are also popular. Your US bank makes the funds available after a couple of days: you send payment, not realizing that “funds available” does not necessarily imply that, “the check has cleared”. Also **phishing** is worth a mention, but we all know about that… ---
