# Sweet Mother of God, Hip-Hop Sucks!

a lot of the people I used to listen to rap and hip hop say since big and Tupac died that anyone after 50 cent and emieein (I can’t ever spell his name right ) is all posers these days …

I get what you’re saying, but it’s not literally monotonous. Less tonal variation than Vivaldi, for sure, and a hip-hop voice doesn’t generally make a melody, but tonal variation to emphasize certain syllables and de-emphasize others, or to raise or lower tension, or to achieve other effects, is universal. It’s kind of funny to imagine a rapper delivering a rap in a true monotone.

That was pretty good! Especially the “Who is it” at the very end, it made me laugh.

Okay, “literally monotonous” may not have been literally accurate. I stand by the rest of my post. Lyrics are less important to me than the musical accompaniment.

I haven’t really paid much attention to music in a _long_ time (even the music I grew up with) but I will say that I tend to _loathe_ the soundtracks of modern youth-oriented streaming TV shows.
