I’ve mentioned before that the student newspaper for which **Hamish** once worked once ran a story concerning the university hiring yet another dude as head of student services, breaking its promise to hire more women for key positions. The headline, written by an editor who spoke excellent English but who perhaps didn’t quite get every nuance, was “Vice-Rector Services another male”. ---

The latest [Radiolab](http://www.radiolab.org/) podcast had a segment on search-and-replace errors. They mentioned an error caused by the [American Family Association’s reposting of an AP article](http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=294). The AFA is a conservative Christian group and claim to fight the “homosexual agenda.” This turned a news article about one of the aforementioned runners into something titled, “Homosexual eases into 100 final at Olympic trials,” and included the awesome quote, “Asked how he felt, Homosexual said: ‘A little fatigued.’” ---
