It’s been a number of years now since I’ve seen the movie, but I’ve probably seen it a half dozen times, and I’m pretty sure it was just that one scene. Such a great throwaway role! ---

“You’re dead son. Get buried.” BTW, pseudo intellectual narcissist Burt Lancaster miscast himself. He was a better fit as a heroic incarnation of Robert Stroud and Elmer Gantry. ---

you have seen Diner half a dozen times? I’ve seen it a few, watching now. I vaguely remember that guy quoting the movie to Shrevie, will see. Best line in Diner - “We need validation of this… Are you gonna get fingerprints? I’m tellin’ ya, I’m not gonna do the dusting.” ---

And there it was, in the diner, over Shrevie’s shoulder- “Why furnish your enemies with ammunition? You’re a family man and someday, God willing, you may want to be President. And there you are, out in the open, where any hep person knows that this guy is toting this guy around for you.” But he misquotes, the line is “this one is toting that one (the woman) around for you.” Wonder if that was in the script or if the actor just got the line wrong?
