I actually read about it in my local newspaper yesterday; it stopped just short of saying that she was a groupie. Here’s a link with a different story.

> **[Is This Connie Hamzy's Cause of Death? Tragic Last Days Away From Home Revealed](https://www.musictimes.com/articles/82681/20210824/connie-hamzy-cause-death-tragic-last-days-away-home-revealed.htm)**
>
> Connie Hamzy famously went by the names "Sweet Sweet Connie" and "Connie Flowers" throughout her career.

And another story.

I’ve been to the Town Pump here in Little Rock but I don’t think I ever ran into Connie there. I remember her from an episode of _Insomniac_ with Dave Attell that ran on Comedy Central in the early 2000s.

I met Connie, back in late1991, on a Southwest flight from Little Rock to Dallas. She was headed there for a Van Halen concert. The guy sitting across the row from her was going to the same concert. She asked him if had backstage passes. He said, unfortunately “no”. She rummages around in her purse and pulls out a polaroid of her flashing her boobs, gives it to him and tells him to show it to the roadies backstage and say that he’s a friend of hers and they should let him in!

There used to (and may still) be a website called “The Long And Short Of It” where groupies could tell their stories. Two things I remember from it were:

1. The woman who wrote in and said she was married to a certain musician, and whoever that person had slept with, it definitely wasn’t him;

2. Somebody wondered about Eddie Van Halen, and the website said they’d never gottten a “report” on him, good, bad, or ugly, period.
