Syfy's Krypton (open spoilers)

Stop Brainiac and Krypton doesn’t explode so Kal-El never goes to Earth and becomes Superman; don’t stop Brainiac and Earth get’s Superman while the Kryptonians go extinct for all practical purposes. Adam’s sure going to have a hard time getting any of the local Kandorians to help him.

James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) also portrayed Brainiac (at least a version of him) on Smallville.

OK, someone needs to mention that Marsters played Brainiac on Smallville in post 33. Then again in post 44.

At this rate the thread might not reach post #44.

Milton Fine was (post Crisis) a sideshow psychic that somehow tapped into/got posessed by the Coulan intelligence Brainiac. Smallville turned him into a college instructor and sort of mashed up the erroneous Kryptonian supercomputer origin from the Animated Series version into it.

Brainiac isn’t behind Krypton exploding (usually, I suppose it could be a retcon in some version, like the Byrne version where it exploded and Krytonite came from a radioactive bomb anti-clone terrorists exploded in the planet’s core long before Jor-El’s time).

In the most recent episode Dru-Zod said that it was basic Kryptonian history that Brainiac removing Kandor from the planet’s surface set a chain of events in motion that would eventually cause Krypton’s core to explode. So in the show’s continuity there is a direct link.

Well after tonight just wow, I can’t think of a way to finish this sentence. This has branched off into a very different reality than the usual Superman mythos. And it only took Dru-Zod a month to establish a military dictatorship and conquer Kypton’s other city-states.

Ah, time travel. I really should have predicted timeline shenanigans, given that I watch both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. But I thought they were going to play it straight because, you know, Superman.

I haven’t watched the latest - but they were supposed to play it straight - but, like Star Trek Discovery - they can never figure out a way to do so.

I think they frontloaded all of the Superman mythos too early. Brainiac! Zod! Doomsday! I would have been happy just to watch all the socio-political intrigues of Krypton. Ranked vs rankless. Vex vs El. Lyta vs Nyssa. Voice of Rao vs everybody. Then at the end of Season 1 have Adam Strange appear and warn them that Brainiac is coming. But they had to introduce Brainiac in the pilot episode and I couldn’t get into all the factions and counter-factions and counter-counter-factions knowing that they were all doomed anyway.
