Tabs on canned food

I hate the pop lids. Hard on the fingertip to lift, hard on the finger to pull, and it leaves a huge ridge to catch food in the can.

My preference is (1) a bladeless can opener, which leaves no ridge at all, and (2) always remember to shake the can before opening so that the contents slide/pour out to the last drop, no messy scraping with a spoon needed.

But we’re increasingly stuck with more pop-top cans, with rounded bottoms (which are safer but can’t be opened), and lid designs that resist a bladeless opener (the popper snags on the tool; they used to be flatter).
