News Of The Weird: The principal of Franklin Elementary School in Santa Monica CA banned the game TAG at lunchtime in part because whoever is ‘IT’ is a “victim” which creates a self esteem issue. Well, that seems reasonable to me, although a better alternative might be to make all the kids stand still except the one that’s IT and let the poor little tyke work out his/her victim,self esteem issues with a baseball bat. It’s the American way. Any better ideas? ---

There’s a thread in GD about this, if you’re interested. What about a modified and more equitable version of dodge-ball? The smaller kids (who have an unfair advantage courtesy of their size and speed) can be knee-capped by the school nurse. The slower, fatter children will have a better chance of hitting them with the ball. Clean fun for all! ---

They must’ve realized how stupid that is, because shortly after they announced the ban they said the _real_ reason was because children hurt themselves by falling or running into things. Some adults seem to want to protect children by stealing their childhood away from them. ---
