IANAL, but I think Abu Jamal was convicted of a state crime, and thus is ineligible for a pardon. ---

The president can pardon federal crimes, but the governor of the state where the crimes occurred can pardon state crimes. I don’t think he’d get a state pardon anytime soon, but even if he got a federal pardon he would still face serious jail time. ---
