Well, I asked _my_ big dick about whether he prefers the unspoiled or not, but it was busy playing video games and ignored me. I understand that there are all kinds of reasons for putting off sex until marriage, and plenty of them are good ones. But the fact that somebody lets the cherry go unplucked alone doesn’t have a fucking (har) thing to do with whether they’re a better person than me or not, or whether they lead healthier and more fulfilling lives. My girlfriend and I were positively slutty before we met eachother, yet we built a loving and comitted relationship with no problem, thankyouverymuch. If my dick weren’t setting off NORAD every time it leaves the house, I’d use it to beat the those virgins with the holier-than-thou complex about the head and bottom. ---

My point was, and is, that maintaining virginity is a laudable goal. Not necessarily for each and every person, but a goal to be admired nonetheless. And yes, it is preferable to pre-marital activity. The sheer facts are this: virginity does not result in any of these situations: HIV/AIDS transmission all the STD’s, pre-marital pregnancy/abortion The first two are life-threatening conditions. Only a fool insistent on his or her own viewpoint would then continue to equate risky behavior with non-risky behavior. Like it or lump it, sexual activity is NOT risk free. Sometimes the wisest course is to do nothing. A horny teenage boy is not entitled to ‘dis’ those who choose not to take the risks associated with sexual activity. The costs are shared by all, not just that over-eager hyper-hormonal boy. ---

I’ll go you one better, **Tuck**. I think people who stay virginal long after they are sexually mature are unnatural. In my opinion, the whole concept of virginity until marriage was thought up by men 2000 years ago (give or take) so they could be sure that _they_ were the father of the children their mate had. Oh, btw, that’s _female_ virginity, of course. Traditionally, nobody really cares what the guys are doing. ---

The point stands: virginity does NOT result in sexually transmitted disease, some of which most assuredly are life-threatening. Sexual behavior, while not the exclusive mode, can and does transmit potentially life-threatening disease. As the parent of three teens, two boys and one girl, I sincerely pray they remain virginal until marriage. A hopelessly unreasonable attitude, to judge by what seems to be mostly male responses to this thread, but there you have it. Sex is risky. Unfortunately not everyone who indulges is practicing safe-enough sex. So, again, more power to the virgins. ---

actually, the 2nd post was supportive of the OP. in any event, the rant in the OP, who made the original claim, which was unsubstantiated. they inferred the ‘air of superiority’ (paraphrased) based on ‘tone’ of the voice from NPR. objection stands. ---
