techchick68, I do not think we have ever exchanged posts and I do try to stay out of personal threads and stick to issues threads but I felt I had to say something here. Please do not take it personally, please relax. There are people who may not care about your feelings and there are people who may care but just are clumsy. They are all part of this world but they should not ruin a minute of your life. Please cheer up, don’t let it bother you and continue to enjoy the SDMB so we can continue to enjoy your company. ---

Y’see, what you _could_ have done was say something like, “life is hard; many suffer for many reasons; my sympathies to you and btw, if you’re passing around good wishes, see your link.” Your point would have been made, without tromping your cleats all over other people. Sheesh, it’s called tact and _sense_! This isn’t the Pit, and climbing all over other people to make some sniffy, lofty moral pronouncment was maladroit, at the most charitable interpretation. Swaggering through the pain of others might bolster your view of yourself, but I find it pointless and self-indulgent. Oh, and whitetho? If you want to be offended, please feel free. TVeblen, its true I said that having a whole page of practice banners slowed down my computer & another user said the same thing. But I also said once its in your cache, it won’t slow things down. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like THE banner. Alos, lots of people deal with loss better if they aren’t reminded several dozen times a day of the loss. Yes, one can choose not to read certain subjects; but the subject headers themselves contain the info. There isn’t much they can do. ---

Nitpicking **techchick** over the banner, when she was already stressed out, she did it gratis out of respect, and ample “techie” explanations had already been offered was kicking someone when they were down. This whole dreary mess has gone on long enough, and more than enough. I absolve the newbies because it _is_ tricky, identifying thread drift and getting posts in the right places. It was a technical issue that belonged in SDMB; easy to mistake, but there you have it. I repeat: the _only_ way we have to know one another here is by our words. Generous slack prevails, but the last week or so has been an education in how powerful those words are: hasty, impassioned, funny, wrathful, whatever. That’s _all_, I’m done with this topic. The chips will damned well fall where people flipped 'em. Veb P.S. Thanks, Demo! It takes _years_ of mistakes and pissant, cross-grained idiocy to reach this point. Fuck! Well, there’s two of my three favorite posters gone in under a week. At least Techchick is less permanently gone. I won’t mention the third, for fear of jinxing him/her. If that person is wondering, he/she is the only poster (excluding OgreFade, of course) that I have ever conversed with over ICQ. Right now I want to be able to reach into my monitor and find some of the people who pissed Techchick off, so I can grab them by the throat and “explain” a couple things to them. And Techchick, if you ever want to drop me an email, I would feel privileged to get one from you. Thanks for all that you have done for the SDMB, we are deeply indebted to you. Please come back soon.
