But maybe I’m missing something. I think it’s a shame another poster is taking a break because they feel that their views will not get proper attention or fair treatment, I think the content of the board suffers in the long run. And then there isn’t enough content. And then I feel like I have to start posting in order to fill the void. And, believe me, _nobody_ wants that. ---

A few times of making fake quotes by others pales on what is happening right now with the liar in chief POTUS mouth. And after a year of discussions, I noticed that the examples coming from the left are there all right, but also debunked too in the SDMB. ---

He’s referring to the Brexit vote, and his “Dopers seem to feel that democracy is fine as long as the vote goes your way; sorry, but either you respect the results of a free democratic vote or you are a wannabe dictator” is a giant strawman he’s built to smear Remainers pointing out the weaknesses in his position. That he has chosen to resurrect this argument in a “here’s my final word, no hitbacks” thread rather than the thread it was already debunked in says quite a lot about how much confidence he has in it. Nevertheless, sometimes we all need a break from arguing with strangers on the internet. I’ve taken several and they tend to help (although I don’t recall whether I announced any of them in advance), and I applaud anyone choosing to step away from the fray for a spell rather than spiralling down into suicide-by-Mod as so many do. ---
