And so, Iā€™m back. Iā€™ve been enjoying myself on Quora and the Guardian. Neither have the sense of community that the Dope has. ---

Sometimes for a few weeks, or as long as a year. Take a step back, get into meatspace for a bit, remember that thereā€™s more to life than arguing with people on the internet, etc. Sometimes this place is great and sometimes itā€™s really bad for my mental health. Except I canā€™t really take breaks anymore. But I can still be selective about where I post - as Iā€™m currently choosing to avoid any thread that is likely to send my blood pressure through the roof. It serves effectively the same function. Having people with dissenting views leave the boards can only harm the spirit of discourse and critical thinking, so welcome back. And be careful not to paint everyone here with the same brush. There are plenty of us here who truly value other points of view. ---

Yeah. Been a member (till they charged at one point) since I think 99? It doesnā€™t matter. Been taking long breaks from here for a long time - sometimes long, sometimes not, but the breaks always get me ā€œrightā€. When the posters that I condider idiots/morons/douchebags, etc. start getting to me and I find myself thinking about them in real life, itā€™s time to bug out. Welcome back, **Quartz**!!! ---
