Better late than never. Those pictures of the “Second Step” were eye-opening. I had a hard time finding any info on it when I asked about it [six years ago](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=400616) (post 35). I didn’t link to the post itself because there’s a lot of good info in various places in the thread.
