I wasn’t sure whether I should post a thread on this, as announcing one’s exit from a public message board seems the act of an egotisical prick. Then I remembered that I am an egotistical prick–albeit one who makes a kick-ass key lime pie–and also that I hate it when posters I like disappear without explanation. So here’s mine. My membership is up at the end of the month, and I’ve decided not to re-up, at least not right away. There’s no tragic reason: it’s just that freelance work has been hard for me to scare up the last few months, and even though membership is cheap, it’s not something I want to put on the card next month. (It’s too bad I don’t have cable, or I could cut THAT off.) Hopefully I should return by December or so. In the meanwhile, someone else will have to start the pretentious threads about novels, salacious threads about pretty celebrities, and sneak into the occasional Pit or GD thread to make mordant, mostly irrevelant comments. 'Course, that doesn’t mean I shan’t be lurking, or starting at least two more novel-of-the-week threads between now and 31 August. And that’s all I have to say at the moment. Proofreading awaiting. ---

You realize that whenever the novel _does_ get published, you’re contractually obliged to sign up long enough to tell us. I think half of CS feels like we’ve read it already. ---

Thank you, **don’t ask**. I’ve been wanting to write something along the lines of “If it’s only (mostly) the money, surely someone would be willing to pay for you” --but since I didn’t want to be that person–budgetary reasons, coupled with my own potential upcoming break from the SMDB\*, not anti- **Skald the Rhymer** reasons-- I felt silly doing so. \*I have a new job. This will involve lifestyle changes which may reduce my access to the SMDB dramatically. ---

Oh damn, I’m really going to miss you. Lots. I love your Cafe Society threads, even the ones I don’t participate in. I am reading Lord Foul’s Bane because of your thread.
