Look, if you really want to be cheap, grab an empty tub and punch a hole in the bottom. Go back to concessions and make up a story about how you accidentally dropped it/kicked it/something and ask for a new one. You’ll still be a thief, but at least you’re eating out of your own popcorn tub.
We tried bringing our own snacks to the theater. The packets of microwaveable popcorn were easy enough to get in our pockets, but the microwave really stuck out.
You’re right, you have to spend money do you should definitely steal from others to get “recoup” the costs.

I’m a member of AMC Moviewatcher and I’m always getting coupons for free popcorn and free drinks when my tickets print out. If I can’t use the coupon that day, they’re usually good for the next month or so.
I always order online and pick up my tickets at the kiosk. Not sure if that helps me get extra freebies.

Maybe the reason they charge such outrageous prices for unappetizing food is that people are always stealing their plastic cups. They have to recoup the costs somehow.
I’m convinced PSXer is some sort of bizarre performance artist (is there any other kind?) and posts about his VHS purchases and asks our opinions of various 80s movies (for his friend!) just to get a good laugh out of us.

You only get free refills for the largest drink or largest popcorn available.
I have a better idea. Instead of taking a popcorn out of the garbage, go into a less popular movie theater and then slaughter the first person with a large popcorn. You get their snack and you get the free refill. Take a garrote to make sure you won’t get blood in the popcorn.
I disagree that it is “questionable”. I am eating “low carb” (have lost 60 lbs so far) and I bring in my own snacks. All they have is empty carbs, and the price for those empty carbs is not the main issue. I’ll snack on cheese and drink Diet Dr. Pepper, the only diet soda I like (and is not available at any theater I have found).
