Yep, we got to LaLaLand, gazed at the beauty that is Union Station, then got on the Pacific Surfliner an hour later to Anaheim. We are staying at the Howard Johnson tonight, then transferring to the the Worldmark Anaheim tomorrow until the end of the convention.
They will deliver all the meals if requested. Naturally, a tip to whoever delivers it is appreciated. As well as coffee on the morning and bottled water throughout the day.
Meal delivery can be requested for both sleeper passengers as well as coach passengers with a disability. Be sure to identify as a passenger with a disability when making your reservations. Among other accommodations it comes with a 10% discount, both for you and a companion.
The five days at the LA Worldcon were stupendous, our week and a half at the Worldmark Anaheim was delightful and our train ride home has started out kind of eventful. The first train from Anaheim was scheduled to give us a forty five minute layover in Los Angeles…but was fifty five minutes late. Thankfully they held the Coastliner for us, so now we are traveling up the coast.
The sun is out, the ocean is blue and glistening, and the surfers are out in force. We are in the coach section on the way back, and My Beloved is leaning back and sound asleep (we partied a bit on the last night).
Hooray for a close shave that worked out right. Somehow that makes settling into your seat for the ride north extra savory.

Going to Los Angeles all meals were $25. We just got a shock on our trip back to Portland when they just announced over the intercom that dinner would cost $45 apiece, a twenty dollar jump in price, and it is the very same menu as before. WTF is going on here?
According to the online sources I’ve seen, lunch is $25 and dinner is $45, and is unchanged for at least the last three years. Are you sure you aren’t remembering the lunch menu from the way down?

Either you misheard, misremembered, or they mispoke on the trip down. Dinner has always been $45 for coach passengers. (Well, not always, but since they started letting coach passengers back in the dining car post-COVID).
I guess we just got lucky on the way down.
