# Talking Mice and other Animals

_Stuart Little_, _The Mouse and the Motorcycle_, _Santa Mouse_, heck, I’ll even throw in Templeton from _Charlotte’s Web_.

I was thinking today about the prevelence of talking mice in children’s literature.

_Animal Farm_, _Watership Down_ and _Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH_ are examples of talking animals used to illustrate societies foibles.

I can’t remember a single “talking animal” book that I didn’t enjoy reading.

Are there any “bad” talking animal books?
