Not wanting to hijack this [thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=6260803) any further I’ve decided to put this here if anyone is interested in a Dopefest here in Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater anytime soon. I live in Tampa but work in St. Pete so I am comfortable in either city. I’ll also venture into Clearwater if need be. So, any other dopers in the area interested in meeting for drinks or mini-golf or anything along that path? Throw out your ideas for activities and locations. Let’s get something going here. ---

Suggestions (depending on the group size): Dinner (somewhere fun, maybe Buca di Beppo, or one of the beachside watering holes (Frenchy’s, etc). A game of pick-up beach volleyball would be fun. Mini-golf/go-karts was a good idea. Or maybe ChannelSide/Ybor for dinner, drinks, and that gaming place? I suck at bowling, but Splitville is always fun, too… ---

Me! I’m up for most anything, my only dislikes are very loud bars. I like to hear conversations and I don’t drink alcohol. I don’t care if others drink or not. I hope BrainGlutton can make it and has his voice this time. If Bambi and ShibbOleth came, wow, then I’d actually be relaxed and much more comfortable. I’m quite a boring gal, but I love to be entertained by others. I live in New Port Richey. I pretty much work the normal Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm sort of thing. I like how our last Dope Dinner went. Eating at a place that has a view of the water is always nice. I missed the day activities though. I’m still in search of the perfect crab cake. I’ll drive 100 miles for a great crab cake. If we do putt putt golf, beware, I’ll kick yer butt. I rule at lucky shots. ---

Depending on the date, (very wonky shift schedules), **Bluesman** and I would love to come! We’re not all that fond of bowling, but given the plethora of beautiful beaches around, how about gettting a pavilion at a beach park somewhere? ---

How about Thai? Anyone like Thai? I know a good Thai place in St. Pete. It’s called the Thai Kitchen. It’s off of MLK I think on 62nd street. ---

I like thai! And I’m only two hours south of Tampa! I’m also a M-F ,9-5 kind of guy so weekend dopefests are best. ---

I’ll do pretty much anything, anywhere, as long as I have 2 weeks notice to get time off work. Bowling sounds fun, as do minigolf and Thai food. I live in (extreme south) Largo, so I’d prefer St Pete or Clearwater, but Tampa will certainly do. I’ve been thinking about starting a thread like this for a bit, anyway. ---

When will you be returning? Maybe we could hold off until then. It seems we have a fair number of people interested here. Let’s keep the momentum going. We need to pick something that will interest everyone. After all it just wouldn’t be a Dopefest if not everyone has a good time. There has been plenty of great 'fests already so the bar has been set high for us. I suppose dinner somewhere would be nice but a bit confining for our more introverted members, myself included. Maybe a cookout at a park or beach with tentative plans for another activity afterwards? And we need someone to organize this. ---
