# Tax filing day is April 18th, 2011 this year.

The thread asking who has filed their taxes yet made me think about a couple of tid bits of info.

If you are the type to wait until the last minute to file, you have until Monday April 18th this year. Even though April 15th is on a Friday, that day is a holiday in the District of Columbia, which results in the deadline moving to the next business day…the 18th.

Also, because many tax laws were changing late in the year, if you itemize your deductions, the IRS will not accept the filing of your return until February 14th. So don’t waste your time trying to get it done early if you itemize, they won’t even look at it until then.
