# Tax prep software on internet v. Turbotax

I have used Turbotax before and like it, easy Q&A tax software. Now I hear ads for what sounds like the same type deal but on the internet, for free. Does anyone know of one of these websites, and does anyone have an opinion of them. I wouldn’t mind saving a few bucks, but Turbotax has been around a while and I trust it.

I believe I used TurboTax via the Internet. It’s only free if you’re doing an EZ form, I think. I had to pay for mine. $19.95 total for Fed & State. Have to pay the Fed’s but am getting $200 from State. Go figure. Was good, caught things I didn’t think about. Didn’t take too long.

I did my Federal return there, and it is basically idiot proof – very easy, step by step questions and answers. Took about an hour, and the best part is my refund should be in my bank account in just a couple of weeks.

I read somewhere that Intuit is actually letting people do their tax filing for free if their gross income is under a certain amount for their filing status. I think they did something similar last year.
