Tell you what. Get the teabaggers and their enablers in the media to stop calling it the Democrat party, and then I’ll stop calling them teabaggers.

Bit confused about the OP though… why would the TEA party / bag / whatever folks be invading a forum about urban exploration?

Now, now. You’re being unfair to Christine. Anyone could’ve mistaken [The Secret of NIMH](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_of_NIMH) for a documentary. I mean, it looked so real and all.

Good point. I found myself a little annoyed when any of the immature types used the term with a kind of an implied silly laugh. Kind of like they’re saying “Hee hee hee, he made a reference to SEX” You’re right, it does make the speaker look dumb or sexually immature at the least.

Urban explorers are of all political walks of life. And levels of intelligence. I avoid politics on that board for that reason. But pikey Pete was in the chat room and one sneaked in when he wasn’t looking.

Wait, those guys who said they were teabaggers were talking about politics? The whole Christine O’Donnell masturbation thing and the mice with human brains was just starting to make sense. But now I’m confused. Do witches drink tea?

Absolutely correct.

For those who are interested in how it [started](http://nrd.nationalreview.com/article/?q=Mjk1YmRjNzIxNmUwMTI0ZWYxZWU4OWU2MzFiOWJmNDE=)

> [@](#):
>
> The first big day for this movement was Tax Day, April 15. And organizers had a gimmick. They asked people to send a tea bag to the Oval Office. One of the exhortations was “Tea Bag the Fools in D.C.” A protester was spotted with a sign saying, “Tea Bag the Liberal Dems Before They Tea Bag You.” So, conservatives started it: started with this terminology. But others ran with it and ran with it.
>
> …
> The liberal media, to use a convenient tag, went after the protesters with glee. Take Anderson Cooper, the acclaimed anchorman for CNN. He was interviewing David Gergen, the political pundit. And Gergen was saying that, after two very bad elections, conservatives and Republicans were “searching for their voice.” Cooper responded, “It’s hard to talk when you’re teabagging.” He said this with a smirk.
>
> MSNBC had an outright field day. Rachel Maddow and a guest of hers, Ana Marie Cox, made teabag jokes to each other for minutes on end: having great, chortling fun at the conservatives’ expense. And here is the performance of another host, David Shuster:
>
> “For most Americans, Wednesday, April 15, will be Tax Day, but . . . it’s going to be Teabagging Day for the right wing, and they’re going nuts for it. Thousands of them whipped out the festivities early this past weekend, and while the parties are officially toothless, the teabaggers are full-throated about their goals. They want to give President Obama a strong tongue-lashing and lick government spending.”
>
> Shuster went on to say that Fox News personalities were “looking forward to an up-close-and-personal taste of teabagging.” Etc., etc., etc. All the while, MSNBC was picturing Republican figures, and the following words were on the screen: “TEABAG MOUTHPIECES.”
>
> Ma and Pa America may not have been in on the joke, but plenty of other people were. On HBO, the lefty comedian Bill Maher commented, “When the year started, ‘teabagging’ was a phrase that referred to dangling one’s testicles in someone else’s face.” And the tea-party protesters “managed to turn it into something gross and ridiculous.” Tuh-dum.
>
> After Cooper and the others smirked about “teabagging,” the word went utterly mainstream — although you could say that, if Cooper used it, it started mainstream: because how much more mainstream can you get than a CNN anchor? On ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, E. J. Dionne, the liberal columnist, spoke of “a right-wing candidate supported by the teabaggers.” The host himself, Stephanopoulos, followed suit. On PBS’s NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, senior correspondent Gwen Ifill used “teabaggers” as well. At the New York Times, Paul Krugman used it in a column. Elsewhere, Roger Ebert used it in a movie review. And so on.

> [@pikey\_pete](#):

> wow, you guys are missing the point. whats funny isnt so much the sexual innuendo as it is the fact that the Tea Party whack jobs did it to themselves.

It’s like picking on a slip of the tongue. It’s like if someone’s in an argument and they’re about to cuss you out, and their voice cracks, and all that comes out is a mouse-like “fuck you!” But you just can’t let that slide. You know it’s got nothing to do with the issue at hand, but for some reason, you make disparaging remarks about it.

Besides, half the people that started it fully intended to use the sexual reference. When some frat boy said “Teabag those fools in DC”, he meant it. But then his mom picked it up and didn’t realize what the hell she was saying.

A week later, everyone was on the same page. So they stopped using it. And that’s the key right there- THEY STOPPED USING IT. But you just can’t let it go, can you? Every time someone says it, I imagine them hopping around on the playground going “Teabagger! Teabagger! Nyah nyah-nyah nyah-nyah nyah!”

And then people get extra-stupid and say things like “I have pictures of people doing an obvious parody like ‘teabagging for Jesus’ and I’m going to pretend it’s a legitimate Teapartiers.”

It’s stupid. You look stupid doing it. Let it go.

The problem is your assumption that the “legitimate Teapartiers” aren’t a bunch of idiots. Suggesting they enjoy (or at one point enjoyed) teabagging is nothing compared to how stupid and irrational they really are.

It’s more like a poll of early adopter knowledge. None of them knew until the movement mushroomed in size, and kind liberal souls let them in on the gaffe.

It speaks to how easily suckered these people are by conniving billionaires and presidents bent on conquest.

Wow, talk about a disconnect.

I can smell the mold-encrusted spittle of apoplexy on your screen from over here due to Tea Baggers being called something they labeled themselves with then later became embarassed by, including an added syllable. Yet, you think those who would re-write history and discard common courtesy by deliberately and continually mis-speaking the official name of a national political party by “dropping a syllable” is something to just get over. Why don’t the people who do that just let it go?

> [@Chessic\_Sense](#):
>
> It’s stupid. You look stupid doing it. Let it go.

Yes, yes, you do, since the Democratic Party has been the name they’ve steadily and without embarassment called themselves for decades. Have some respect, will you. Even if you don’t do so yourself, don’t support those who do; then your argument here _might_ gain some traction.

If we were in GD, I’d agree with you 100%. There is really no time when calling your political adversaries names in GD isn’t childish.

But in this forum? That’s what this forum is for.

ok, Chessic, you totally missed the point of the OP which was expressing my exasperation at a single tea partier and his over-all ignorance of macro-economics, physics, engineering, medical science and valid social theory. As for the photos ive collected of these whack jobs with their ‘tea bagging for Jesus’ signs, i got them from legitimate media outlets (i.e. not fly by night blogs, op-ed pages or Fox News.) I have a lot of friends who are highly credible photojournalists who take exception to your accusations of yellow journalism. oh, wait, since it is becoming more and more evident that you are a tea partier, i guess all non-fox media is just trying to push a liberal agenda, and therefore not a valid source of information. I must thank you though for making this a very entertaining thread. you seem to be outnumbered by people who got the gist of the OP.

If you’re not laughing about sex at least part of the time, you’re doing it wrong.

ETA:

IME those who spend the most time huffing and puffing about people using “immature sexual humor” usually don’t have a whole lot of sexual experience.

I have a direct conduit to the depravity and corruption of today’s youth culture. He keeps me updated on the hep lingo of the copacetic cats. Which is groovy. So I heard “teabagging” as a verb long before it had any political reference.

When playing Halo online, “teabagging” was a gesture of humiliation for a fallen foe. The victor would place him/herself over the victim, directly over the head. By pressing the “crouch” control and releasing, the victor could dip his crotch down over the face of the fallen, stand up and repeat. This gesture was held to imitate the action of dipping a tea bag in hot water.

The context was “Shit! I’ve just been tea-bagged by a twelve year old girl from Petaluma!”. My feeble eloquence cannot express the woe and humiliation therein. I would like to say that I’m too good a father to chortle over a son’s humiliation. I’d really like to.

Referring to them as teabaggers perfectly conveys the contempt they deserve. The movement is based on a lie. If it was really about financial responsibility, and not simple partisanship, then they would have been all over Bush. Hmmm, teabaggers over bush.
