I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Anyone who is paying PERSONAL INCOME TAX (as opposed to capital gains or corporate income tax) on more than around $250,000 (I’ll even allow cost-of-living adjustments to $500,000 if he’s a big-city boy), and is complaining about how much tax they pay, is a weeping genital sore unfit to sully my universe with their sob story. ---

For example, the congressman being discussed here brought some Subway stores into existence that wouldn’t otherwise exist. People go there every day and get sandwiches–if that store wasn’t where it is, those people would have to drive further or eat an inferior sandwich. I took “benefactor” to mean someone giving something to society out of the goodness of their heart, which isn’t what I’m discussing here. Rich people make society a better place out of their own self-interest, not out of the goodness of their hearts. ---
