Tea Party vs. GOP thread 2014

Seems unlikely. Besides, you only mount a write-in campaign when you can count on turning one of the major party candidates into the de facto third party candidate. See: Joe Lieberman, who just hoovered up all the independent and Republican voters, and Lisa Murkowski, who also captured independents and a lot of Democrats.

I’m not sure where Cantor finds a base in this race. Would Democrats flock to his banner to prevent a Brat win? Hell no. At best, he’d divide the Republican vote and let Trammell win.

My hope as well. Let’s hope Cantor runs as a write-in.

Ah, forgot to mention Charlie Crist. He didn’t win, but he did succeed in making the Democrat the third guy.

This time he gets to run one on one against the Tea Party, rather than having Meek take votes from him.

Crist didn’t win yesterday mainly because there wasn’t an election in Florida yesterday.

I mean in 2010. Meek got just enough support to keep him from beating Rubio.

Oh, right, you do think the 2010 elections were the last ones we had, don’t you?

I was citing examples of people losing(or dropping out of) primaries and then running in the general election. I went back as far as 2006.

It is to laugh!

I’ve been busy and so I’m late to announce that Sue “Chicken Swapper” Lowden lost the primary to Hutchison. Terrible, terrible news. The entire state of Nevada is confused, angry and disappointed. :stuck_out_tongue:

But at least she’s not a witch.

Is she?

At the moment I don’t think there’s conclusive evidence one way or the other. AFAIK, tho, she has never, in any way, denied that she is a witch. I’ll allow readers to draw their own conclusions.

I just heard about the Idaho GOP convention brouhaha, but I’m not sure if this is a case of TP vs. GOP; can anyone confirm, deny or simply illuminate?

More like the Idaho Tea Party vs. the Tea Party of Idaho (splitters!)

Probably all of them open-carry, too. Surprising it didn’t degenerate into a shooting war.

Given recent statements by him, an earlier poster’s reference to Cochran as a “porker” could take on new meaning.

Already has. There’s a radio commercial than combines the quote with animal noises and also mentions “Cochran and the Liberal Democrats” repeatedly.

Of course, the McDaniel campaign appears to have accepted donations from a known Klan lawyer/former member.

Fun times.

A brief history of the GOP primary season so far.

Well, maybe. He faces Nan Rich in the primary on August 26th. Who knows what she’ll do if she loses.

That should be interesting. Do Democrats want a Democrat, or someone who can win?

If it’s Crist v. Scott, better the opportunist than the fiend.

As a Floridian i had a mostly good impression of Crist as a Republican, and he is fairly popular down here.
