For discussion towards the end of the semester but not usually for written assignments: The Revolt of Mother, A Domestic Dilemma, I’m a Fool, The Blue Hotel, Hills Like White Elephants, A Rose for Emily.
A few years back, I had to write an essay on Memento, which was shown in class, for an undergrad Composition class. IIRC, it was a final paper and supposed to be about whether or not the final “twist” in the film was genuine or not.
That professor is no longer employed by my University.
I showed Good Will Hunting in my upper-level Issues in Clinical Psychology course last year. I then had each student either write a psychodynamic case formulation on Will, or discuss ethical violations ont he part of Robin Williams’ character.
The whole copyright issue, IMHO, does not apply to viewing films in class…
