**ETF** , you’re not going to believe this, but the word “contumacious” reminds me of an exotic dancer I once knew. And no, I didn’t have an affair with her; we were only friends. (Damn, I don’t know which sounds worse.) 😃 Anyway, she put up words on a blackboard (actually it was green) in chalk every day in order to try to widen her vocabulary. Imagine my surprise upon seeing the word “contumacious” appear there one day. ---

Think about it. If 99% of the Hollywood message is liberal, it only stands to reason that anyone who decides to listen to it will follow the liberal message. This is why if there has to be celebrity evangelizing on matters political, I would like to see it more “fair and balanced,” as I said. I’m certain there are mindless followers and discriminating listeners on both sides of the spectrum, but virtually the only input that comes out of the entertainment industry favors the left, so any infuence acheived will be in favor of the left. ---

Furthermore, while 99% of liberals _may_ (and I do not accept this premise, which is really more like hyperbole) be liberal, it’s my contention that the right _makes_ celebrities that are mindlessly followed. Cases in point: Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Coulter, various bloggers and right-wing editorialists, etc. Most of these (except _maybe_ you could make a case that o’Reilly is a journalist) people are paid (if they are paid) for anything except offering their political opinions in an attempt to influence people. At least liberal celebrity activists have _real_ jobs. 😉 ---

Well, Ted’s older than dirt, so we can’t send him off to Iraq. I’d still like to see him against a lion barehanded, though. 😃 On the issue of journalism regarding the recent debate: I am appalled. Even Bush supporters must concede the fact that he choked. And, I hope that even in the state of Texas, most folks are embarrassed and disturbed by his inability to convince us that a) the war on Iraq was necessary; b) the war on Iraq can be won under the current adminstration; and c) our President is capable of forming a complete sentence. ---
