Although this is a factual question, I suspect the answers may be too hot for General Questions. According to his latest cartoon: [http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/uclickcomics/20050808/cx\_tr\_uc/tr20050808](http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/uclickcomics/20050808/cx_tr_uc/tr20050808) internal Pentagon documents suggest that the death toll in Iraq for US Military is 9000 rather than 1800. I have googled for this but only found references to Rall’s cartoon. Does he have sources; are they publically available? ---

Apparentlt they don’t count the deaths caused by flying pigs. ---

The numbers being thrown around sound high. There are around 14000 wounded and to have 4200 (`6000 - 1800) die of wounds after leaving Iraq isn’t reasonable. It also isn’t reasonable that _none_ of the wounded that are evacuated out of Iraq subsequently died of wounds received there. The military could clear this up by stating total deaths separately identified as “killed in action” plus “died of wounds.” ---
